Victoria College Beginning Archery Class Syllabus

The National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP) is a joint venture between state departments of Education and Wildlife. Several archery equipment manufacturers and organizations are also partners. The program promotes student education, physical education and participation in the lifelong sport of Archery. Designed to teach International style target archery in physical education class 4th-12th grades, core content covers archery history, safety, technique, equipment, mental concentration, core strengthening physical fitness and self-improvement. Before presenting the 2-week archery course, teachers undergo an 8-hour National Archery in the Schools Program® Basic Archery Instructor Training Program.

Students shoot at 80 cm bulls-eye targets placed before an arrow curtain in their gymnasium. Equipment used is state-of-the art and designed to fit every student. Thanks to support from the archery industry, the $6,000 equipment 'kits' can be purchased by schools for $2,800 to $3,100 dependant upon which targets and bow hanging units are chosen.

Straight Arrow Archery is the perfect place to conduct the 8-hour National Archery in the Schools Program® Basic Archery Instructor Training Program training as well as a venue for the kids to continue their archery experience after the 2 week course ends. If a school does not have a place to shoot, then Straight Arrow Archer Learning Center is available for a nominal range fee for the class.
